French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko discussed the implementation of the Minsk agreements in a phone talk earlier on Wednesday.
"The four leaders instructed their foreign ministers, who will meet in Berlin on September 12, to continue work on various issues and prepare concrete proposals. They may be discussed at an upcoming summit that will be held in Paris in early October at the invitation of President of the Republic [Francois Hollande]," the office said.
The quartet welcomed the ceasefire that had been observed by the Kiev forces and the militias of the Eastern Ukraine's region of Donbass since September 1, according to the statement. The leaders stressed the need to agree on withdrawal of weapons with calibre under 100 mm from the line of contact.
The Normandy Four was created in 2014 to secure a peaceful settlement to the conflict in eastern Ukraine. In February, the group worked out a ceasefire deal in Minsk, Belarus, signed by Kiev and the militias.
