On Wednesday, the Indian Foreign Ministry confirmed to Sputnik that it had received a report on a Saudi diplomat suspected of raping two Nepali women, reportedly found in the unnamed diplomat’s residence in the city Gurgaon near New Delhi, on Monday.
The alleged perpetrator of the crime, the first secretary of the Saudi Embassy in New Delhi, has diplomatic immunity and therefore does not fall under Indian jurisdiction.
Earlier on Thursday, General Secretary of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Devi Prasad Tripathi told Sputnik that a thorough probe into the case was necessary, despite the suspect's immunity.
