WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The House resolution said that until legislators see the still-secret side agreements Iran signed with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the congressional review process cannot start and the nuclear agreement will remain stalled, The Hill newspaper reported on Thursday.
The resolution was approved by 245 votes to 186 in the Republican-dominated House, and was split on party lines with only Republicans supporting it and only Democrats voting against it, the report said.
"The party-line vote… came a day after House GOP [Republican Party] leaders recalibrated their strategy to reject the Iran nuclear deal following a conservative revolt," The Hill noted.
Earlier on Thursday, Senate Democrats successfully blocked progress in the upper chamber of Congress on a resolution disapproving of the Iran nuclear deal.
