The Solidarity with Refugees group registered almost 89,500 people confirming to attend the demonstration, which began at noon local time (11:00 GMT.) The campaigners gathered near Hyde Park and embarked on a 2-mile march toward Westminster.
The initiative was backed by such rights groups as the Refugee Council, Amnesty International, the Syria Solidarity Movement, Stand Up to Racism and the Stop the War Coalition.
The solidarity march is due to be attended by Jeremy Corbyn, the newly-elected UK Labour Party leader, among other British politicians, the newspaper said.
The large-scale event comes two days before the emergency talks on Europe’s refugee crisis due to be attended by UK Home Secretary Theresa May and her EU counterparts.
Europe is now facing a major migrant crisis, with thousands of undocumented asylum seekers from conflict-torn countries of North Africa, the Middle East, Central and South Asia arriving to the European bloc with hopes for a better life.
