WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The US Justice Department hopes to bring all people charged in the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) corruption scandal in May to the United States, US Attorney General Loretta Lynch said in a press conference on Monday.
“We remain very hopeful that we will be able to bring to the United States all those that we have charged in May,” Lynch stated.
On May 27, the US Department of Justice charged 14 people — including nine FIFA officials — with racketeering, money laundering and receiving $150 million in bribes.
Lynch said the investigation of the case is active and confirmed the intention to bring additional charges.
"We do anticipate being able to bring additional charges against individuals and entities," she said.
However, Lynch did not share possible time frame for the new announcements.
Swiss authorities have already extradited FIFA Vice President Jeffrey Webb to the United States in July 2015.
