WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US President Barack Obama will raise the issue of China’s cyber activities with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to Washington, DC, later this month, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters on Monday.
"We've been pretty blunt in describing the concerns that we have with China's behavior in cyberspace," Earnest said. "I would anticipate that discussion will continue when the president [Obama] has the opportunity to meet with his counterpart."
President Xi is expected to visit the US capital later in September.
In recent months, Washington has blamed Beijing for launching a massive cyberattack against the US Office of Personnel Management, which compromised the personal data of more than 21 million current and former US government employees.
On Friday, US National Intelligence Director James Clapper said Chinese cyberattacks target a wide range of US data including economic and national security information.
