Even though the need to accommodate hundreds of thousands of incoming migrants may cost the German budget around 10 billion euros next year, the positive effect this new situation could have on the country’s economy is hard to miss, German media wrote on Saturday.

The purchase of food and consumer goods for the migrants, accommodation money and other outlays will boost domestic spending, which is exactly what Germany’s EU partners have been insisting on for quite some time now, Deutsche Welle reported.

Moreover, this would create lots of new and well paid jobs including 3,000 in federal police and over 1,000 in the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) in Berlin.

With the German population getting older, the government had to raise the retirement age to 67, but the country still needs an influx of migrants to fill an estimated 10 million jobs the country will be running short of by 2030.

Many companies are willing to hire migrants, even those who have problems speaking and writing in German.

The business community is also urging the government to facilitate the construction of cheap housing for the migrants. Around 300,000 cheap apartments will have to be built each year, compared to only 70,000 made available last year.

All this means that if the government and legislators move quickly, the current influx of migrants will soon start bearing economic fruit.

Which, in turn, will take the edge off the other problems resulting from the massive inflow of foreigners, Deutsche Welle reported.
