ANKARA (Sputnik) – The rally was organized by several Turkish non-governmental organizations. They condemned the rising number of losses in Ankara’s struggle with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and called for peace and national unity.
Dozens of thousands of participants carried Turkish flags and chanted anti-terrorism slogans.
"This is the day when we must protect each other. We will be the voice that will fill people’s hearts with peace not hatred," Rifat Hisarciklioglu, the president of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, said during the rally.
