Chinese Leader to Discuss Issues of ’Common Concern’ With US President

Chinese President Xi Jinping is ready to discuss the most important issues of "common concern" with his US counterpart Barack Obama, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday.

BEIJING (Sputnik) — The Chinese leader is preparing to make his first state visit to the United States on September 22-25 ahead of participating in the UN General Assembly.

"On the invitation of president Obama I am going to the United States with a state visit in the near future. I am willing to exchange views on the most significant issues of common concern with president Obama," Xi said, as quoted in the statement.

He added that the two leaders planned to enhance their bilateral cooperation and discuss the problems of world peace, development and prosperity.

Human rights violations, China’s military posture with regard to US allies in Asia, cybersecurity threats and international trade might also make it onto the meeting's agenda.
