KIEV (Sputnik) — The 70th jubilee session of the the UN General Assembly opened in New York on Tuesday. International security, counter-terrorism, climate change, reform of the UN Security Council and human rights are on the agenda of the session.
"Konstantin Yeliseyev did not rule out the possibility of a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel to coordinate positions ahead of a meeting of the leaders of the Normandy format, which is scheduled to be held in Paris on October 2," the website of the Ukrainian president stated.
The group was created in 2014 to negotiate a peaceful settlement to the conflict in eastern Ukraine. In February, the group worked out a ceasefire deal in Minsk signed by representatives of Kiev and Donbass self-proclaimed republics.
