MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Militants from Palestinian Islamic organization Hamas claim they have seized an Israeli drone, media reported on Saturday.
The drone fell in the city of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, according to the Israel’s Jerusalem Post newspaper.
Hamas militants have captured a number of Israeli intelligence drones to get data on the Gaza Strip, the newspaper said.
The aircraft is the second seized by the organization in two months. In late July, the militants said they rebuilt an Israeli drone for Hamas use after it fell in the northern Gaza Strip.
Palestinians seek the recognition of their independent state on territories partially occupied by Israel after the 1967 Six-Day War, including the Gaza Strip, de-facto controlled by Hamas, and the West Bank.
