RIGA (Sputnik) — The active phase of NATO Saber Strike 2015 drills commenced on training ground in the Latvian town of Adazi, the country’s Defense Ministry said Monday.
The international exercise is conducted at the Adazi range and on nearby territory September 14-29.
Over 2,100 soldiers from Latvia, the United States, Denmark, Canada, Britain and Germany are taking part in the drills.
The exercise is intended to improve cooperation between participating states in future operations.
Saber Strike is a US-Europe set of cooperative military training drills conducted annually since 2010.
In June, Saber Strike drills took place in Poland.
