MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged economic assistance to Armenia on Monday, while congratulating the leader of the Central Asian nation on the country’s Independence Day.
"Vladimir Putin has confirmed that the Russian side is ready to continue providing assistance to Armenia on the urgent socioeconomic issues, and indicated his willingness to explore the entire range of ties between the allies and foster constructive cooperation in regional affairs," the Kremlin cited Putin’s congratulatory telegram to President Serzh Sargsyan as saying.
The Russian leader praised the progress of Russian-Armenian cooperation, both bilateral and within the Eurasian Economic Union, the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
