The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported on Monday that Qatar Airways flight 778 had "struck the approach lighting system runway lights" on September 15, which caused "substantial" damage to the aircraft’s underbelly.
However, the Boeing 777-300 continued flying towards its final destination, Doha, without any further incidents, the FAA said, adding that the damage was revealed after the aircraft landed in Doha’s Hamad International airport.
