WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US aircraft producer Boeing has concluded a major contract with China’s aviation supplies company to partner and build 240 airplanes for Chinese airlines, the company said in a release.
“Boeing and China Aviation Supplies Holding Company (CASC) have signed a General Terms Agreement related to the purchase of 300 airplanes,” the release read on Wednesday. “The package has a value of approximately $38 billion at list prices aircraft orders and commitments include (240) airplanes for Chinese airlines.”
China Aviation Supplies Holding Company President Li Hai said Boeing has played a significant role in China’s aviation industry in the past four decades.
“Boeing airplanes have played an important role in supporting the development of China's aviation transportation for the past 40 years,” Hai said. “These additional airplanes will further help connect the people in China and around the world.”
Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Ray Conner said that China is an important aircraft market, and the company is thankful for the continued support from Chinese customers.
President Jinping’s visit to Boeing comes amid preparations to visit Washington, DC on September 25 for the first time.
On Wednesday, Jinping told a group of businesspeople in Seattle, Washington that foreign companies are welcome in China, and the Chinese government will not tolerate theft of any kind in business dealings.
