MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Volkswagen CEO Winterkorn resigned on Wednesday after the car maker admitted rigging exhaust emissions tests for diesel vehicles sold in the United States.
However, various reports suggested that the German company could have used the same trick on cars sold in other countries.
"In order to check this information, Rosstandart has sent an inquiry to OOO Volkswagen Group Rus asking to provide the necessary explanations and documents related to this problem," the agency said in a statement.
