MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier, the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) accused Total’s subsidiaries of manipulating gas prices to profit on other trading positions from 2009-2012.
"[Total] is fully cooperating with the authorities and has provided all documents requested. In light of these documents, Total is convinced that none of the allegations has been committed," the company said in a statement Wednesday, quoted by the newspaper.
In August, FERC put forward similar accusations against major global oil and gas company BP, demanding a $50 million fine. BP denied the accusations and appealed the decision.
Charges of energy market manipulation have recently been brought against companies including JPMorgan, Chase & Co., Barclays and Deutsche Bank.
