Asteroid Belt: Watch the Discovery of Our Space Neighbors
11:22 GMT 26.09.2015 (Updated: 10:03 GMT 30.11.2022) Space is not empty! There are so many objects surrounding us – and every year scientists find new stars, planets and asteroids. This video, provided by astronomer Scott Manley, depicts the updated history of the discovery of all asteroids on the frontier of the inner Solar System.
The so-called asteroid belt is a region between Mars and Jupiter, consisting of small Solar System bodies. Among them is Ceres, classified as a dwarf planet thanks to its mass and a diameter reaching nearly 1,000 kilometers.
