The extremely rare astronomical event, a supermoon total lunar eclipse, will be visible to much of the world tonight. This will be the first supermoon eclipse in 33 years and it will not occur again until 2033.

Those in eastern parts of North America as well as those in South America will all have an opportunity to witness the celestial event after sunset tonight, Sunday, Sept. 27. Europe, the Middle East and Africa will be able to watch the eclipse in the predawn hours of Monday, Sept. 28.

Everyone in areas experiencing bad weather can watch NASA's live stream of the astronomical event.
