NEW YORK (Sputnik) – Russian energy giant Rosneft is exploring the possibility of entering the Cuban market, according to a briefing compiled by the company.
"Rosneft is studying the possibility of entering the Cuban market," the company said in a document prepared for the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
In 2014, Rosneft and Cuba’s CUPET signed a deal on cooperation in enhancing oil recovery from mature fields.
According to the agreement, the two companies would jointly work on a comprehensive study of the conditions for developing and operating oil fields and wells in Cuba to determine the feasibility of producing oil, among other issues.
