NEW YORK (Sputnik) – In June 2014, Kiev and the European Union signed a landmark association agreement. The deal is aimed to establish a closer political and economic association between Kiev and the European Union. It also gives Ukraine the access to the European Investment Bank.
“No matter if European nations are ready to accept Ukraine or not. I'm insisting, the EU cannot survive without Ukraine. Democratic Ukraine should be in European Union. I'm optimistic enough that my dream can come in force,” Poroshenko said addressing Columbia University in New York.
The agreement will come into force once all EU member states, in addition to Ukraine, have ratified it.
