BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — Commenting on the possibility of a dialogue with the European Union on the coordination of military operations in Syria, the envoy explained that the bloc is not involved in military action, with the exception of some member states, such as France, therefore, it has no coordinating function.
"On Friday, October 2, I will have a meeting with Chairman of the EU Political and Security Committee Walter Stevens. We will discuss not only Syria, however, Syria is on the list of priority items on the agenda," Chizhov said.
Earlier on Wednesday, Russia’s upper house unanimously approved the use of the Russian Air Force in Syria, following a request by Syrian President Bashar Assad.
Chizhov expressed hope for a positive reaction by the European Union for the Russia airstrikes on Islamic State targets in Syria.
