Three Norwegian travelers, Gunnar Garfors, Tay-young Pak and Oystein Djupvik, visited almost 22 US states just in 24 hours, breaking a world record having kicking off their incredible journey at 6.20 am EST on September 20 in Maine.

During their incredible trip the friends used three cars and three scheduled flights.

"It may not be your ideal Sunday, but what do you not do to break a travel world record? Together with my friends Oystein Djupvik and Tay-young Pak I decided to try to visit more US states in 24 hours than anyone else before us. And we managed," Gunnar Garfors, an author and President of an international radio and TV organization, wrote on his personal blog.

The friends targeted the previous record of 19 states in 24 hours, set in 2003.

"The three of us are rather restless, and our outrageous attempt to visit more than 19 US States, the former record, in just 24 hours turned out to be quite a thrill," Garfors narrated.

And they did it! Having visited 22 states in 24 hours the Norwegian travelers finished their remarkable journey in Illinois on 21 September at 06.20 am EST.

It is not the first time Garfors has set a world record: in 2012 the adventurous Norwegian visited five countries on five continents in a single day. Furthermore, in 2014 Garfors visited almost 19 countries in 23 hours and 33 minutes, breaking another world record.

The true "globetrotter" has written a book entitled "198: How I Ran Out of Countries," based on his experience traveling the entire world by 2013.
