Footage of the bear sauntering in very human-like fashion went viral in 2014, with many residents wondering why the grizzly's very unique walk. It's so surprising, and so odd, it doesn't even look real at first.
Locals have nick-named the bear "Pedals." As it turns out, one of Pedals' front paws is missing, and the other is injured, forcing the bear to walk upright. Pedals' condition has prompted some locals to set up a petition on Facebook, asking for the bear to be captured, treated, and taken to a sanctuary.
"He desperately needs help. He is being chased around Oak Ridge NJ by people wanting to get a glimpse of him," the petition page says.
New York-based nonprofit group Orphaned Wildlife Center has already offered to build a habitat for Pedals.
