WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Duncan is stepping down as the US school graduation rate is at an all-time high and more Americans are graduating from college than ever before, the president claimed.
“Even as Arne [Duncan] steps down, we’ve got an exceptionally talented educator to step in, and that is Dr. John King,” Obama said.
Obama added King is already on Duncan’s leadership team, has been an educator all his life and served as education chief of the state of New York.
Duncan is one of the longest-serving members of the Obama administration.
