The Circle of Light international festival is currently underway in Moscow in its fifth year of its spectacular illumination extravaganza. This year, the festival is being held in two stages.
The 2015 Circle of Light festival kicked off on September 26 and will run until October 4.

The main theme of this year’s event is "In the city of light…".

The Circe of Light festival is an annual culture-and-art event during which light designers and professionals in 2D/3D graphics use the architecture of Moscow as a canvas for their multimedia and illumination performances.

The biggest European illumination show was performed on the façade of the building of the Russian Defense Ministry. The 3D projection told the history of the Russian military from its very beginning.

This year, the festival has been divided into two parts. The first was held on May 8-10 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

This year the festival involved nine locations across Moscow, including the VDNKh exhibition center, the Bolshoi Theater, and embankments of the Moskva River.

The festival is organized by the Media and Advertising Department of Moscow, with support from the Moscow Tourism Department.

The program of the festival features Russian and foreign artists, including works by finalists of the Art Vision Modern and Art Vision Vjing international contests.

For the Circle of Light 2015, Russian Olympic champion Tatiana Navka prepared a figure-skating show based on Lewis Carroll’s "Alice in Wonderland".

For visitors, admission to all the locations of the festival is free.

The festival also features an educational program in light design and illumination.

Over the years, the audience of the Circle of Light festival has risen from 250,000 to six million people.

The novelty of this year’s event is specially designed barges floating on Moskva River and projecting images on the facades of embankment buildings.

This year, the festival also features a special program for kids.

The Circle of Light international festival knows no equals across the world in the number of locations and participants as well as the technical and artistic level of performances.
