Earlier on Friday, the court announced that Ukraine has withdrawn one of the complaints filed against Russia, concerning actions allegedly committed by the Russian authorities against representatives of the Crimean Tatar minority group. The appeal was canceled because it was found to have repeated an individual complaint.
At the moment, the Kiev government has three applications pending against Moscow, while over 1,400 individual complaints related to Crimea and eastern Ukraine are also before the ECHR, according to the press release.
In late September, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said Kiev expects some $50 billion from Moscow in compensation for damages related to Crimea's reunification with Russia and the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine.
Crimea rejoined Russia in March 2014 after 96 percent of the peninsula's residents voted in favor of the move in a referendum.
Ukraine, along with a number of Western countries accuse Russia of what they have labeled an "annexation" of the peninsula and of meddling in Ukraine's internal affairs, particularly in the conflict-torn east of the country. Moscow has consistently refuted the claims.
