SOCHI (Sputnik) — Western countries are attempting to limit Russia's role in establishing a new world economic order, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Friday.
"While oil prices may be difficult to predict, the price of our political decisions was known from the start. We understood that a number of countries, especially Western countries, would pressure us, both politically and economically, and we consciously chose this path," Medvedev said at an investment forum in Sochi.
"It is also clear today that attempts to drag the past century's confrontational mistakes into the 21st century have deeper causes. They are fueled by the desire to limit Russia's role in creating a new economic order," he added.
