The policy of anti-Russian sanctions is totally counterproductive and hurts the French economy. The failed Mistral deal, for example, was an embarrassment for the French government, as Paris not only lost billions of euros, but also its reputation and credibility, explained Marechal-Le Pen, a niece of Marine Le Pen.
This is absurd. One shouldn't forget that Russia and France have long been allies and geopolitical partners. That's why France needs to build political relationships with Russia independently, without constantly following orders from Washington, Marechal-Le Pen said.
When asked about Russia's decision to fight ISIL in Syria, Marechal-Le Pen stressed that Islamic extremism is the number one enemy against which the entire international community should unite.
"I believe the French public is no longer duped with its [the US government] strategies and understand that today it's ISIL that is the number one enemy. It's them who threaten us and against them we must fight with Russia, but also with other countries under the framework of the international coalition," the young woman said.
Russia once again has done something that the French government hasn't had the courage to do. ISIL terrorists must be stomped out before they come to France and carry out terrorist attacks on French soil, Marechal-Le Pen said.
Speaking about Bashar al-Assad, Marechal-Le Pen said people shouldn't be worrying about him. Hundreds of thousands of Syrian asylum-seekers in France are fleeing ISIL atrocities, not the government of Bashar al-Assad. That's why the number one priority isn't the overthrow of al-Assad, but the fight against ISIL.
