MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Mohamed Masrati was quoted by Iran's Press TV as saying on Sunday that 85 bodies have been detected near the Libyan capital of Tripoli and another 10 corpses near country's coastal city of Sabartha.
According to Masrati, most of the victims were migrants from other African nations, trying to set off from Libya in order to cross over to more prosperous European countries.
Europe is struggling to manage a massive refugee crisis, as hundreds of thousands of people flee conflict-torn regions in the Middle East and North Africa, seeking asylum in the bloc.
According to the European Commission, over 500,000 asylum seekers have entered the European Union in 2015 alone.
