The parliamentary election in Kyrgyzstan held on Sunday has been the most transparent and clean in the country's history, a spokeswoman for the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan said Sunday.

BISHKEK (Sputnik) — With over 1.4 million votes counted by the election committee, the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan, supporting the country's President Almazbek Atambayev, has taken the lead with some 27 percent of the votes.

"There are no final results yet, but one thing we can say for sure — for the first time in the history of Kyrgyzstan a fair and clean election has taken place," Aynura Temirbekova said.

She added that the president and the government deserve credit for the fairness of the procedure.

According to the election committee, the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan is followed by the Ata Zhurt center-right political party, that has been supported by some 20 percent of the voters, Kyrgyzstan party comes third with almost 13 percent while Onuguu-Progress, popular in the country's rural regions, Bir Bol and socialist Ata-Meken political parties have been supported by some 9, 8 and 7 percent of the voters respectively.

For the first time in the history of the country, the lists of voters were drawn up on the basis of individual biometric data.
