MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Some foreign media manipulate information about Russia’s actions in Syria by publishing information about alleged civilian victims of Russian Aerospace Forces’ airstrikes, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Monday.

Russia’s Sukhoi Su-25 fighter jets, Su-24M and Su-34 bombers commenced precision airstrikes against Islamic State (ISIL) militant group targets in Syria on September 30, following a request from Syrian President Bashar Assad.

“Manipulation of information considering civilians, especially children, started from the first minutes [of Russia’ military operations in Syria],” Zakharova said.

According to Zakharova, to some countries, which do not share Russia’s optimism considering success in its fight with terrorism with Syria, “perception is more important than reality.”

Since the beginning of the campaign, the Russian Defense Ministry has been stressing that all the Russian aircraft are fitted with equipment allowing them to conduct "absolutely precise" airstrikes against ISIL throughout Syria and evade civilian casualties.

Last week, Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riad Haddad confirmed that Syrian army strikes, supported by the Russian Air Force, were carried out against armed terrorist organizations and not political opposition or civilians.
