"While the details are still emerging, unfortunately, I am afraid this deal appears to fall woefully short," Hatch stated in a press release.
He noted that concluding the TPP trade deal "is an achievement…only if it works for the American people" and can meet the "high-standard objective laid out in bipartisan Trade Promotion Authority."
Hatch was the lead Republican to usher through the controversial Trade Promotion Authority (TPA), a measure that passed the Senate in May.
The Senate and House of Representatives will have 90 days to review the details of the trade agreement, which have not yet been made available to lawmakers or the US public during the course of the six-year trade talks.
On Monday, the successful conclusion of the TPP free trade talks was announced by trade ambassadors from the participating countries of the United States, Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.
