TEL AVIV (Sputnik) – A Palestinian man, armed with a knife, injured at least one Israeli citizen near a shopping mall in the central city of Petah Tikva, Israeli police said Wednesday.
"Attack carried out by lone terrorist who stabbed one man. Terrorist captured by security guard [and] police officers," police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld tweeted.
The suspected assailant was identified as a "Palestinian terrorist" from the West Bank city of Hebron.
Rosenfeld wrote earlier that a 35-year-old Israeli national had shot an 18-year-old Arab female, after she allegedly stabbed him in Jerusalem. The woman was shot at the scene, the spokesman added.
Tensions from last month's clashes in the East Jerusalem Temple Mount complex, which houses the Al-Aqsa Mosque, considered the third holiest site in Islam, have continued into October.
A total of four Israelis have been killed in shooting and stabbing attacks in Jerusalem's Old City and the West Bank over the past week.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cancelled his visit to Germany scheduled for Thursday to discuss the latest escalation of Palestinian-Israeli violence with the country's security forces.
