Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader says that negotiating with the US has "no advantages."

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei slapped a ban on negotiating with the US on Wednesday, saying the process has "many disadvantages and no advantages."

Khamenei said that despite the best efforts of the Iranian negotiating team during talks on its nuclear program, the US "took any chance to infiltrate."

"The Iranian side was vigilant, but they gained chances and acted against our national interests."

Last month Iran's President Hassan Rouhani described the nuclear agreement reached with the 5+1 groups of countries as "a very difficult agreement, it had a lot of complexities," but said that in his opinion Iran would benefit.

In the interview with US CBS News, Rouhani was also asked about the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's references to the US as 'the great Satan,' and explained that translation from Persian into English missed the nuance of the phrase.

"Satan in our religious parlance is used to refer to that power that tricks others and whose words are not clear words, do not match reality. What I can say is that the US has made many mistakes in the past regarding Iran, and must make up for those mistakes," said the President.

The government of the US, in turn using no less inflammatory language, has called Iran one of the "Axis of Evil."

On July 14 the US, Russia, China, Great Britain, France and Germany reached agreement with Iran on its nuclear program, in which Iran signed a road map with the IAEA to clarify outstanding issues of the program, in return for the lifting of economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

"What we gained in fact were the goals we were seeking right from the beginning and that was without problem we should be able to have our peaceful activity, sanctions should be lifted and oppressive resolutions against Iran should be lifted," said President Rouhani.
