MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Military top brass will most likely convene in the next few days at the Baghdad Information Center to expand cooperation and operations against Islamic State (ISIL) militants, Iraqi Defense Ministry spokesman Nasir Nouri Mohammed told Sputnik.
“Talks between the sides will most likely be held in the next few days to activate the process of coordination and, with God’s will, push for the expansion of operations,” Mohammed said in an interview.
IS is a violent extremist group in control of large areas of Syria and Iraq. The group is notorious for its brutality and many human rights violations, as well as for recruiting people from all over the world via social networks.
On September 30, Russia began airstrikes on ISIL targets in Syria following a request from President Bashar Assad.
