"[Russia] is a market that has expanded significantly in the past few years; it is drinking more coffee, it is buying more flowers from Colombia," Cardenas said on the sidelines of the annual International Monetary Fund and World Bank summit in Lima on Friday.
Cardenas noted that "more Colombian exports to Russia" could improve trade relations, which he characterized as "very good" between the two countries.
"We would be more than happy to engage in that conversation," Cardenas noted.
Bilateral trade between Russia and Colombia was $375 million in 2014, with Colombian imports down more than 4 percent over the previous year.
Both countries are actively working to build and diversify bilateral trade, a according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Following a March bilateral meeting, Colombia reportedly expressed interest in establishing contacts with the Eurasian Economic Union, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
