WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Over the past 24 hours alone, Russian attack aircraft carried out a record 67 combat missions hitting a total of 60 Islamic State targets, according to the Russian General Staff.
US Congressman Ed Royce pointed out earlier this week that Russia had been more active in Syria over the past two weeks than the United States had been over the past two years.
"Coalition military forces continued to attack ISIL terrorists in Syria and Iraq. In Syria, coalition military forces conducted two strikes using fighter aircraft," the release stated.
The targets included an ISIL training camp and mortar system. The US-led coalition conducted 13 airstrikes in Iraq, separately.
The US Department of Defense has recorded fewer than 2,700 strikes in Syria since the beginning of military operations more than one year ago.
