ANKARA (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, a double blast near Ankara's railway station ahead of an anti-war rally against a surge in violence amid Turkey-Kurdish conflict killed at least 86 people and injured at least 186.
"Due to the terrorist attack in Ankara, the election campaign is suspended for three days," the statement reads.
The snap parliamentary election in the country is scheduled for November 1.
Tensions in Turkey escalated in mid-summer when the country launched a military campaign against Kurdistan Workers' Party militants in northern Iraq, after the group claimed responsibility for the murders of two Turkish police officers who they say had aligned themselves with the Islamic State jihadist group.
