UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, local media reported that Tourpakai Ulfat was killed by unknown individuals in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar.
"Initial reports indicate that Ms. Ulfat was killed by gunfire from unknown persons on a motorcycle," Haq said.
Haq added that violence carried out against UN staff violates international humanitarian law.
The UNAMA has been working with local authorities to define the motive of crime and to punish those responsible for the murder.
Ulfat worked in UNAMA for five years and was a respected human rights activist.
