Vasily Raksha — The shocked family saw their former life turned into ashes – and they made a run for Europe.
“Our home, our car, our money – everything was finished. Boom!” the younger boy described the shelling of their property in Mosul by ISIL terrorists right before their eyes.
They have already spent three months in the Hungarian camp. They are hoping to get documents and reunite with their kin in Belgium.
“I worked as a barber in Iraq and I can do it in Belgium,” the elder brother Karush said bursting into laughter and turned his head to boast of his fashionably shaved temples.
“It’s so hard!” the younger one sighed. No wonder! Hungarian has nearly 20 noun cases!
The guys are happy with the living conditions in the camp. Now each family has one room, whereas three families had to huddle in a single room earlier.
“I have a big room. We have a kitchen, a shower, everything. It is even better than in Germany and Belgium.”
The question on whether they will once again return to Iraq depressed the boys. Even the dismantlement of ISIL will not bring peace to their homeland at once, Karush said.
“After 10 years the war may not be over… After ISIL is finished, America will come because we have oil. America killed Saddam Hussein and hurled Iraq in havoc, America is dangerous for Iraq.”
