MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the ministry, the vehicles fitted with satellite navigation system are built on the basis of BTR-80 armored personnel carrier and enable detection of contaminated areas within about four square miles.
"These machines are fitted with equipment, which allows to transmit the results of NBC reconnaissance to the HQ in an automated mode, that gives an opportunity to make decisions faster," the statement issued on Monday reads.
Russia is currently carrying out a $325-billion rearmament program to modernize 70-percent of its military equipment by 2020.
