The photo festival in Istanbul will feature Stenin contest Grand Prix winner Yelena Anosova’s series on women in Siberian prisons named "Separation." The exhibit will also display a slideshow of some 100 photographs featuring the work of photojournalists from Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
Rossiya Segodnya's Photo Information Directorate Alexander Shtol stressed the importance of having the Stenin Contest prize winners display their work before a global audience.
"Their participation in FotoInstanbul-2015, which shows the best and most meaningful pieces of global photojournalism, speaks to the highest quality of their photos," Shtol said.
Russia’s largest international contest for young photographers is named after Rossiya Segodnya photojournalist Andrei Stenin, who died in 2014 near the city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine while on assignment.
The Andrei Stenin contest was established on December 22, 2014. Its aim is to promote photography, raise awareness about the purpose and challenges of photojournalism, and support young photographers.
