US Custom and Border Protection officials told NBC News that the glitch involved computers and kiosks in airports nationwide.
Senior government officials said that the delays lasted from approximately 8:22 to 9:06, and caused heavy airport delays in Boston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Charlotte, Baltimore, and JFK in New York.
