Bavaria Ready to Restrict Migrant Inflow Independently From Rest of Germany
Two asylum seekers at an asylum reception center in Kitzingen sexually attacked a female member of the cleaning staff every day for more than a week, compelling the institution to employ only male cleaners.

On Wednesday Bayerischer Rundfunk [BR] reported that two male asylum seekers aged 38 and 52 had been detained after the woman finally summoned up the courage to report the attacks, which took place between October 1 and October 10, to her employer, and to the police.

A spokesperson for the Kitzingen District Office told BR that as a result of the attacks, the contracted cleaning company responsible for the asylum center will send only male cleaners from next week.

The report by German broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk.

"Until then, cleaners will be accompanied by the security service when cleaning the showers and toilets. In addition, showers and toilets will be closed for the duration of the cleaning," said the local authority.

The reports of sexual violence committed by asylum seekers in Kitzingen follow previous allegations of abuse in other detention centers in Germany. Earlier this month German newspaper Der Spiegel reported that 15 women and children living in a reception center in Hessen, home to 500 asylum seekers, reported being sexually abused at the center.

The report by Der Spiegel about sexual violence in asylum centers.

A letter written by representatives of Hessen's Regional Assembly and posted on the internet in August expressed serious concern about the increasing danger for women and children living in the reception center, due to the threat of sexual violence.

"It must be said, that we are not talking about individual cases," they warned, reporting numerous incidents of rape, sexual assault and forced prostitution at the center.

"Women report that they, and children, have been raped or subjected to sexual assault. Many women sleep in their clothes. Women regularly report that they don't go to the toilet at night, because of the risk of sexual assault or rape in the toilets, or on the way there."

"Even in the daytime, passage through the camp is a frightening situation for many women."

Despite the preponderance of pictures of women and children that have been published in the Western media throughout the ongoing refugee crisis, approximately 81% of the migrants arriving in Europe are adults and nearly 84% of those adults are men, according to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
