MOSCOW (Sputnik) — In Syria, the airstrikes destroyed a tactical unit, a staging area and a vehicle, the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Russian Aerospace Force has conducted 36 sorties over the past 24 hours, hitting 49 ISIL targets in Syria, including underground hideouts, operation centers, home-made weapon production plants, firing positions, artillery, munition warehouses, ammunition and material supplies of the Islamic State jihadist group.
In Iraq, the coalition destroyed several buildings, mortar positions, fighting positions, weapons, tactical units, assembly areas, staging areas, supply cashes as well as a command and control node. The airstrikes also wounded several fighters and denied militants access to terrain locations.
An international coalition headed by the United States has been bombing ISIL positions in the two countries without the approval of the United Nations or the Syrian government since 2014.
On September 30, Russia began pinpoint airstrikes against Islamic State in Syria, following a request from President Bashar Assad.
