MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to media reports, the accident happened late on Saturday in the house on the West Side of Chicago after Santiago stored his loaded gun on top of refrigerator before his son, who later found it, accidentally shot his brother in the head.
"Michael Santiago charged after knowingly leaving loaded gun in house where 6 yo son accidentally shot 3 yo brother," the police said on Twitter.
The Second Amendment to the US Constitution guarantees the right of US citizens to keep and bear arms. Gun violence and tougher gun controls remain in the spotlight of the political debate in the country.
