The Boeing 787-9 or the R2-D2 ANA Jet is the first time a Star Wars character has ever appeared on the exterior of a commercial aircraft, according to ANA.
From the outside the Boeing is painted as an actual R2-D2 droid. “The nose of the R2-D2 ANA Jet has the iconic blue, white and gray design of the droid in the movies, complete with its red sensor. The Star Wars logo also appears on the side of the aircraft in huge, black letters,” Tech Times website reported.
The jet has in-flight decorations such as headrest covers, paper napkins and cups inspired by the droid R2-D2, which served Anakin and Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars movie franchise.
Nippon Airways is getting all set for the upcoming release of the latest Star Wars movie. The airliner’s partnership with Disney has resulted in the new themed planes which will create buzz for the release of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ later this year.
The passengers will be able to watch all six of the previous "Star Wars" movies from their seats during their flight from Tokyo to Vancouver, which will begin on October 18.
After its initial Tokyo-Vancouver route, the R2-D2 Jet will fly between Japan and cities in the US, Europe, Australia, China and Indonesia.
