US President Barack Obama on Sunday ordered state, treasury, commerce and energy secretaries to take steps toward lifting Iran sanctions as part of the landmark nuclear deal reached in July.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) sets out a 90-day timeline of adopting the agreement following its UN Security Council’s endorsement.

“I hereby direct you to take all necessary steps to give effect to the US commitments with respect to sanctions [against Iran],” the White House said in a press release.
