Pentagon confirmed on Sunday that al-Qaeda leader Sanafi al-Nasr had been killed as a result of a US-led coalition airstrike in Syria's Aleppo province, Press Secretary Peter Cook said in a statement.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the statement, Abdul Mohsen Adballah Ibrahim al Charekh, aka Sanafi al-Nasr was killed in an airstrike carried out by the US-led international coalition on October 15 in northwestern Syria.

"Al-Nasr was a long-time jihadist experienced in funneling money and fighters for al-Qaeda. He moved funds from donors in the Gulf region into Iraq and then to al-Qaeda leaders from Pakistan to Syria," Cook said.
